octopuses only just got recognition as a trio of sentient creatures
and two of them have brains
and one of them even has nine
That's eight more than you or me
unless you're
an animal
with two or more brains
that can comprehend this song or even if you can't
the point still stands that we can't know if anything, anyone, any little animal's sentient other than the one that I am

It would be silly to not assume the sentience of other humans
as this would probably
lead to you or me losing humanity
Also, there's no definitive evidence either way
It would be foolish to
Believe a real *$% idea such as this one
Two of them have brains

Why did scientists not feel inclined
to name them
as sentient
until they did?
But they just couldn't do it 'til they'd found the evidence
What evidence though I'd really like to know what sort of evidence can show
us that something
is able to perceive or feel things
We can't really know if anything
is sentient other than ourselves
